Stage 6: Energy Efficiency
Energy is expensive so we need to use it wisely. So once you’ve reduced wastage the next step is to use energy efficiently. Heating energy can be reduced through improved controls and insulation. Lighting energy can be reduced through automatic controls and upgrades to more efficient bulbs. Appliance efficiency can be increased through commitments to upgrading to AAA-rated equipment.
Service: Organisational engagement
Whether you wish to retrofit your existing buildings or construct new ones, LCIC offers a complete solution in low carbon construction. We have submitted carbon consultancy work for eco developments at Rackheath and Dunsfold Park and have experience in tenant monitoring of low carbon buildings at Lingwood. The Carbon Cutters project demonstrates our willingness to engage forward-thinking organisations wishing to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency.
LCIC also has significant innovation experience. Under the auspices of LCIC, the Carbon Connections programme attracted applications from a third of all UK Higher Education Institutes resulting in our portfolio of 26 innovative low carbon projects. Projects in the built environment sector include Agri-Fibre Insulation, BaleHaus and Biofuels for Heating. On the back of this success, LCIC has been selected as Fund Manager for the forthcoming ERDF fund. As horizon scanners we are aware of the latest developments in the low carbon arena, picking up technologies at early stage, and are ideally placed to recommend the most appropriate solution to your organisation’s energy efficiency requirements. We also have strong links to central, regional and local government keeping one ear to the legislative ground.
