Stage 3: Monitoring
Perhaps your organisation has already established the carbon footprint of your products or services. But have you implemented monitoring schemes to capture ongoing energy consumption data? What about new processes and/or products? Are you keeping abreast of the latest energy monitoring developments?
Service: Organisational observation and analysis
LCIC has experience in helping organisations set up long-term monitoring plans. Our partners at the University of East Anglia’s Estates Division oversee Europe’s largest cluster of energy efficient buildings and have been monitoring and analysing energy use in the built environment for more than a decade. The Estates Division’s extensive experience of weather reacting systems and buildings management systems allied to LCIC’s involvement in innovative energy analysis hardware such as Visible Energy means we are ideal partners to establish accurate monitoring systems for your organisation. LCIC can also take active steps to ensure your IT systems are as efficient as possible. Central power management of desktops allows for all PCs to be powered down or state managed when inactive. Server virtualisation enables load capacity management and can lead to server consolidation to reduce hardware and thus energy consumption. Data centre management tools are available to provide figures on heat dissipation, capacity usage and load which is essential to achieve maximum effectiveness.
