We launched the CRed system in May 2003 to communicate the issue of climate change, provide solutions to individuals in order to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and to record the results. CRed’s ambition was to create a visible, low carbon community, whose energy saving actions would lead to a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2025, providing a road map for others to follow.
Since then the CRed system has developed and grown. At that time the relationship between energy use, carbon emissions and climate change was not as widely understood. Now most people accept the necessity to reduce CO2 emissions. When the system began there were just seven simple pledges, now CRed has over 60 pledges and has developed a unique system of pathways to provide the individual with guidance along their low carbon journey. Then we were working on our own; now we have many partners including individuals, businesses, local authorities, local and national government, public body and educational organisations.

Such organisations are increasingly being scrutinised by government and regulators to reduce carbon emissions. This can require costly planning, engagement, recording and reporting of results.
The CRed system can help you.
Built upon more than six years of experience the ‘CRed pledge system’ enables an organisation to communicate its carbon reduction ambition, provide practical and achievable actions, record the carbon savings gained and report back on its impact on an ongoing basis. With ‘off the shelf’ capabilities the CRed System can easily sit within your organisation’s climate change strategy plan and its adaptable design build enables it to become an identifiable ‘local’ complementary element of your organisations’ ambition.
