Event Website www.renewablewaste.org.uk
On 5th July 2010, the Low Carbon Innovation Centre will host an event focused on converting food & beverage industry bio-waste into energy. Through presentations, case studies and open panel discussions, the event will draw together food & beverage industry firms, waste managers and stake-holders from throughout the food & beverage industry life cycle in the East of England.
LCIC at the University of East Anglia harnesses the capabilities of UEA's research base, with the mandate of leading towards a sustainable low-carbon future.
Does it Matter?
Most of the organic waste generated in the East of England ends up in landfills, costing millions of pounds annually to manage, and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions.
There is a better alternative in the form of Anaerobic digestion and other bio waste-to-energy technologies offer the ability to produce energy and in some cases, fertiliser and soil conditioners.
